Carehaven’s new reception area a welcome addition

Since the shelter’s inception in 1990 to help those in need, Carehaven has empowered over 5000 women and children from previously abusive backgrounds. During this time they made do with a very small reception area inside the building with no adequate space for day-to-day administrative activities and no private waiting area for their future dwellers.

“The beautiful new Bonaqua container is now situated right at the entrance of Carehaven making our operations run a lot smoother. It is imperative for us as a shelter to offer secure refuge for mistreated women and children; the larger reception area provides new residents with a safer and more private waiting area,” comments Frankie Burgoyne, Administrator at Carehaven.

According to Burgoyne, every aspect of the shelter has a part to play in making the facility comfortable for the abused. Security is vital for Carehaven to run smoothly and with the reception area now at the entrance of the shelter, those who are in need of assistance and wish to enter can be supervised with no disturbance to the residents.

“We are very thankful to PenBev for donating the beautiful container and making a difference to the lives of so many abused women and children. The new reception area is one step further in making Carehaven a high security shelter,’ concludes Burgoyne.

“We are pleased that we are once again able to assist Carehaven with a container and make it easier for the staff to be able to do the good work they do for the women and children within the community,” comments Denise Green, Corporate Social Investment Manager at PenBev. This initiative forms part of PenBev’s community programmes which assist in uplifting and empowering the communities in which they operate in.
